The Gramercy Institute
In 2005, Wreaks Media Group launched a research and consulting division. “The Gramercy Institute,” has completed financial marketing research projects for companies such as Yahoo!, the Financial Times, Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions and The New York Times. Gramercy recently completed a consulting project to reformulate MSN’s value proposition and articulate its market position within the financial services advertising community. Gramercy Institute also completed an in-depth research project investigating the motivations and intensions of the financial CMO.
About Bill Wreaks
Mr. Wreaks is a veteran of the financial advertising and media industry. Prior to the formation of The Wreaks Media Group, he served many years with Omnicom’s Doremus Advertising, the largest financial advertising agency in the world, boasting six offices in five countries. There, Wreaks rose through the company to eventually become Managing Director of Doremus’ global media division, DMG. Doremus clients included Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, JP MorganChase, Lehman Brothers, Citigroup, ITT Industries, Credit Suisse and others.
Wreaks was an early pioneer and advocate of digital media and he continues to champion the adoption of digital media and Web 2.0 initiatives within the financial marketing community. Prior to his appointment to lead Doremus’ media group, Wreaks served as Doremus’ VP of e-Business. His group was charged designing Doremus’ “e-strategy” and with ushering the company’s 100-year old heritage into the digital age to embrace “then-alternative” forms of media. While at Doremus he launched “Wall Street Net” and launched the media commentary site “MediaPOV.”
Mr. Wreaks was elected and served as President of The Financial Communications Society in 2003 and again in 2004. He served on the Board of Directors of this organization from 1999 to 2006. The FCS is a non-profit, 225-member organization based in New York and was founded in 1967.
Wreaks is a frequent interview subject on the marketing and media circuit. An interview with Wreaks and five other leading publishing executives was recently featured as the cover story issue of Folio Magazine. Mr. Wreaks’ advertising and media work and insights have appeared in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, IDD, B-to-B Magazine, Folio, Advertising Age and American Banker. He has presented to numerous professional groups regarding financial advertising and media subjects.
Wreaks has toured the United States on the Advanced Marketing Faculty for a network of over 1100 advertising agencies, speaking on a variety of digital media topics. He has addressed the “Ad-tech” conference in New York and has spoken at Source Media’s Financial Marketing Symposium. Annually, for the past five years, he has addressed the Financial Communications Forum in both Boston and in Chicago. He is also a regular financial marketing panel moderator at financial marketing panel discussions.
Wreaks earned an MBA in International Business from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. This full-time program was conducted in the US, Prague, Milan, and Paris. He earned his undergraduate degree from The School of Commerce, Economics and Politics at Washington & Lee University. He is a graduate of South Kent School.
Mr. Wreaks sits on The Board of Trustees of South Kent School and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York City Marble Cemetery.
